GDI
Hockey (February, 2008)
Goaltending is the most technical
position in hockey. Proper execution
of the position requires guided
repetition with exceptional and
detailed instruction. Unfortunately,
the position is often the most
overlooked and neglected in many
developmental practice plans. To
promote an all encompassing
developmental program, Cyclone
Hockey has contracted with GDI
Hockey to offer goalie specific
training.
GDI Hockey is a world-leader in
goaltender training. GDI has trained
goalies ranging professional to
beginners. Currently, more than 100
GDI trained goalies are playing in
the NHL, European Pro Leagues, Minor
League Hockey and the NCAA Division
I. GDI is an established goalie
training program that originated in
Western Canada and has expanded
across North America to offer the
most comprehensive goalie training
program available.
Each Cyclone Hockey goalie will
receive 10 plus hours of individual
on-ice skill development and goalie
mentoring from skilled GDI
instructor Matt Millar. Matt will
provide a structured progressive
developmental plan customized to the
unique demands of the position to
improve performance efficiency. The
progressive plan will include
dryland drills to provide quality
repetition to reinforce on-ice
instruction to offer a complete
program of goalie specific skills.
Cyclone Hockey of Minnesota is
excited about working with GDI
Hockey. Not only do they offer skill
development, they place an emphasis
on the mental approach to the
position to develop the complete
athlete. GDI is, without a doubt, a
world-class developmental program.
